Bernie Sanders Records on military spending and foreign intervention.
Bernie Sanders had maintained a consistent record against foreign intervention, blank checks to military industrial complex and a strong advocate for peace. Many Democrats campaign on the same principle, but when it comes to actual voting, do they follow through?
H.R. 6157: H.R. 6157: Department of Defense and Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education Appropriations Act, 2019
in other word, this is the military budget vote. H.R. 6157 provides $674.6 billion in total discretionary budget authority for the Department of Defense for fiscal year (FY) 2019. The bill provides $606.5 billion for the Department of Defense base budget, which is an increase of $17.1 billion above FY18 levels, and $68.1 billion for the Overseas Contingency Operations (OCO) account to support the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT). This funding level is consistent with the National Defense Authorization Act as well as the recently enacted budget agreement.
Despite all the Democrats claim how much they want to provide social policies to the people, and how much they are against Trump, but the actual voting record shows not a single Democrat went against this massive military budget (which increases year over year). Only Bernie and handful of Republicans actually voted against the bill. But you will never see any media reporting this! This bill quietly passed without any controversies!
But you do hear how all these politicians keep telling you that you cannot afford healthcare and education, and this is coming from both Democrats and Republicans.
Here is how we compare to rest of the world.
Imagine we save some of that on our healthcare and education....
